Regarding the save corruption thing I was also told that it apparently only happens when you select 'Save and Quit' from the pause menu, but not if you just let the game autosave then dashboard it to quit out. More information from Gage if you want to risk/test stuff yourself.

If you update to patch 1.02 after going past 78% completion, then your file still has a chance of corrupting. NOTE: The Hammer of Infinite Fate DLC and the Online trophies require the 1.02 patch to be installed, before they can be accessed. If you want to downgrade to the 1.01 patch, to avoid the 78% glitch then see here: LINK to downgrade. Note: Guide has been written assuming patch 1.02 has been installed. The servers are still working but the player population is almost non-existent, thus you will need a boosting partner for the online trophies.

If you don't have Hammer of Infinite Fate DLC and don't plan on doing it, you can also play the game unpatched and that should remove the 78% glitch for you, just don't accidentally install the update until you have Metal God or your file will also corrupt.

If you have an older save handy from before you hit 78%, then you can carry on but will have to finish the remainder of the game in one go. If you go over 78% game completion on this patch, then there is a very high chance that your save file will corrupt and you will be unable to load it anymore and have to start a new game from scratch. There's also some debate as to if Cry Me a River is glitched or just poorly coded, since some units don't seem to count towards it for some reason.

Glitched trophies: 1, Metal God due to the glitch that corrupts your saves when at 78% in-game completion.

Approximate amount of time to Platinum/100%: 26-35 hours (Estimated Time to Platinum).
